As the new year, 2026, comes, I lie down on my bed, filled with thoughts in my head. I think of the future as I walk ahead on this random path, full of struggle.
I have said to myself, “This won’t be the end. I will fight with all my might to see a brighter light, in which I will only see with my sight.”
I told myself I would make my parents proud, and I wouldn’t let them down. They made sacrifices without a doubt, just to keep me away from experiencing their past. I asked, “What will I do?” I said, “I can’t do this without the two of you.”
And yet, they said, “Son, stand proud,” for I am their only son, and the one who will do my best to make them proud.
As I reached for the peak, I told myself, “Giving up is for the weak.”
If I stop moving forward, the time will be over. So I keep moving forward, taking a step closer—in which I ponder, this will be over.
