In the world's global reach,
The mastery of English, a form of leech,
Is not a skill to be lightly dismissed,
But rather be highly valued and kissed.

For to learn a tongue, not one's own,
Is a demonstration of wit fully grown.
To process information from different parts,
And to switch between tasks with agile hearts.

Thus, bilinguals are better at the trade,
Of multitasking and switching, it's not a raid,
As they constantly shift from tongue to tongue,
A display of cognitive flexibility, it's no small sum.

Furthermore, the mastery of English requires
A grasp of cultural norms and desires,
From many lands, the language it flows,
Thus to master it, one must know and show.

This cultural understanding, it does impart,
A cognitive skill that does play its part,
In one's ability to adapt to change,
And to adjust to different cultural range.

Moreover, the gift of tongue does bring,
Cognitive benefits such as memory's wing,
And the power of attention, it does impart,
Defying the onset of age's declining art.

English, the language of business, science, and art,
Is the most widely spoken, a language of the heart,
It opens the doors to knowledge and gold,
And greater wages, it has been told.

The mastery of English also imparts,
Confidence, self-esteem, and a lively heart,
Thus success in personal and professional spheres,
Is within reach, for those who do not fear.

Yet, the mastery of English, it's not a breeze,
It requires time, effort, and dedicated keys,
To grasp the subtle nuances and culture,
Is a challenge that requires great endurance.

Thus, educational institutions and employers
Do seek individuals who are bilingual supporters,
For bilingualism is in great demand,
And a premium is paid to those who do command.

However, it must be said with care,
That mastering English is not the only affair,
Intelligence is a complex breed,
And a single factor, it is not its seed.

Some may not have the chance or resource,
To learn a second language, it's not a recourse,
And their intelligence should not be measured
By the absence of a second language, well treasured.

In cultures and communities where first tongue
Is more valuable than English, it has been sung,
Preserving their language, it is their right,
And preserving their identity, it shines bright.

Thus, a focus on English should not detract,
From other languages and cultures, in fact,
For to neglect them, it is to neglect,
A society's rich tapestry, it does deflect.

Despite the counter arguments, it must be said,
That mastering English, it is still a valuable trade,
It may not be the only measure of wit,
But still a valuable and desirable fit.
