On the 24th day of October, FEPSians once again simultaneously gathered alongside each other at Far Eastern Private School (Al Shahba Campus) to commemorate United Nations Day 2023, with the theme “Full Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development for All Levels.”

Students were given the opportunity to display various forms of unity and diversity by showcasing vibrant national costumes, performing various captivating dance presentations, and taking part in the numerous contests and competitions prepared by the teachers and Social Studies Department, leading to yet another remarkable United Nations Day celebration.

This extravagant United Nations Day primarily commenced with the parade of the UN National Costumes, whereby students from all grade levels showcased plenty of captivating costumes related to their countries, filling the campus with contented and joyful hearts. Then followed the proper opening of the program, which consisted of the singing of the UAE and Philippine national anthems, Islamic and Christian prayers, recitation of the mission and vision, all led by members of the Social Studies Club, and of course, the welcoming remarks given by the school’s academic supervisor, Ms. Seprina Sangcajo.

Adjacent to this, the program went underway. Filling the crowd with buzzing exhilaration. Beginning with the Maharlika Dance Troupe’s intermission number, they once again astonished the audience with their truly mesmerizing performance. This was then followed by the cultural dance of the KG pupils, wherein they unveiled the astounding costumes they had prepared.

Subsequently, the awarding of the “Color Me Contest” from the KG department took place. KG students were rewarded for their impeccable artwork. Then followed yet another stupendous dance presentation by the selected primary pupils.

After that, the awards for the different contests began. Winners from Grades 1-3 were rewarded for the Color Me and bulletin board contests. Followed by numerous cultural dances and the awarding for the essay writing, poster making, and bulletin board making contests of students from Grades 4-6 and 7-10.

FEPSians have yet again brought upon us a successful United Nations Celebration, illustrating the full implementation of this year’s theme in their bulletin boards, exhibiting bewildering dance performances, and showcasing assorted talents by partaking in contests such as essay writing and poster-making competitions.

After all, our goal is to embark on the full implementation of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development at all levels as one United Nations. The global work of the United Nations is not without reason compared to that of a family—striving for a common goal in concert with all members for a better future. We come together once again on the 24th of October to celebrate the diverse traditions, cultures, and religions. We do so by upholding sustainability, celebrating unity, and honoring diversity.
