On the 24th of October, Far Eastern Private School (Al Shahba) commemorates United Nations Day 2024 with the theme, “Transforming Our World with Technology and Creating New Opportunities to Speed Up Sustainable Development.”
In a time when audiences are captivated by various art forms to express their love and appreciation, United Nations Day is no exception. The creative talents of students came together to craft a diverse narrative that celebrated history in one remarkable parade.
Henceforth, the Masters of the Ceremony captivated the audience with blaring voices. The joyful chants grow louder as the Parade of Nations begins, with students showcasing the vibrant national attire of their countries, accompanied by broad smiles and happy hearts. They continuously walk with pride and unity amongst everyone, sharing their differentiated yet intertwined cultures through the art we see and the music we hear.
Rounding up the Parade of Countries comes the Entrance of Colors, followed by Ms. Mary Jane P. Onato, the school Principal, who led the Welcome Remarks. “They are presenting their countries, allowing us to celebrate our differences and the richness of our global community.”
Filling the audience with excitement, the winners of the Poem Recital Contest ranging from the KG1 to KG2 levels presented their heartfelt poems. To calm down the hyped-filled air from the results, brought an even higher level of anticipation once the Social Studies and Glee Club selected officers and members entered. As they stun the crowd with their marvelous tunes and voices, they use their talents to express unity by collaborating with the languages.
Following the remarkable presentation of cultural dances by the UN representatives, the Maharlika Dance Troupe escorted everyone into an intermission. Additionally, selected teachers showcased an outstanding performance, dressed in attire representing the countries they were assigned.
Subsequently, the continuation of awarding the Medalists of Contests began. Grades 1 to 6 were acknowledged for their flawless intonations for the Poem Recital Contest, while Grades 7 to 10 arose along with their alluring compositions for the Essay Writing Contest. The recognition for the Poster Making and Digital Bulletin Board Contests in the High School Department was completed. Students showcased their collaborative illustrations and innovative ideas, preserving stories and culture for future generations.
Moreover, cultural dances performed by students from Grades 4 to 10 were presented alongside diverse traditions from different countries. Following this, a performance by Grade 7 to 10 students from the Boys Block featured a blend of smooth movements.
The event was a varying composition of alliances of different cultures, traditions, and ways of showcasing. As the school envisions a world of Advancement with Sustainable Development for their students, they come to make it happen. They have gathered together to prove that differences do not make flaws but an honorable form of unity that a crowd continuously aspires to have.
