With the Miting de Avance drawing near, FEPS Al Shahba is elated to learn more about the individuals running for president along with their platforms, goals, and the changes they hope to bring if elected into the Supreme Student Government. Each candidate offers a unique vision for what this school year could be; while their reforms and ideas may differ, they share one important trait: a genuine desire to make a difference for each of their fellow students.

In the days leading up to the big event, the FEPSian Torch had the chance to speak with the candidates for a meaningful interview. We asked three questions in hopes of revealing the heart behind their campaigns, and this is what they had to say:

Q1. Why should we vote for you?

Raphael Frio

“I am Raphael Rueben L. Frio, vying for the position as president, as I acknowledge that true leadership is about being able to uplift and support one another, being accountable for each other, and being the voice and channel of those who cannot speak out. I want to use my experience to build a stronger, more connected, and more empowered FEPS community, where every student’s voice matters.”

Jomuel Untalan

“You should vote for me because I’m running, not just for the president title, but I’m running to be your voice. My goal is to make our school community a place where every student feels validated, heard, and noticed. I’m committed to changing this school not just for the student body but for the students, committed to making this year one like never before.”

Brianna Tito

“I believe you all should vote for me due to the fact I happen to be a loyal student of this school and because I believe I possess the necessary traits and skills needed in pursuing this role, namely, my leadership qualities, my enthusiasm, my diligence, my ability to work under pressure, and my ability to multitask. I have been a student of this school for about twelve years, and I believe I have the capability to help make a positive change for everyone in the school.

Sheika Panopio

“I truly believe that you should vote for me because over time I’ve learned that leadership is not just about taking charge but about listening and acting on what our fellow students want and need. My campaign is built on a clear, achievable plan to make our school more connected and more supportive for everyone. I am committed to turning your ideas into reality. And I’m ready to put in the work, collaborate with students, and ensure that our voices make a difference.”

Q2. What distinguishes you from other candidates?

Raphael Frio

“My proven dedication and extensive leadership are what set me apart from other candidates. I have always consistently worked to connect and unify our school community, ensuring that everyone feels included and valued, hearing all of their voices. I don’t just lead in the front; I lead with the people. My ability to uplift others, facilitate teamwork, and listen openly makes me believe that I can guide my co-students toward growth, unity, and success.”

Jomuel Untalan

“I think the one major quality I have that distinguishes me from the other presidents is that I listen before I lead. My fellow candidates have many ideas that they want to bring through, but what about the students? What about their ideas? I’ve read all of your complaints, your suggestions, and your hopes for this school, and my number one priority is to make all of those things happen.”

Brianna Tito

“What distinguishes me from the other candidates is my exceptional ability to multitask. As a consistent high-achiever since kindergarten who also happened to have participated in various in-school and interschool events, I believe that truly showcases my ability to adequately balance both my academics and co-curriculars all at the same time. This truly brings to light my dedication and determination to actively pursue things that I know will help foster and develop my talents while also acting for the good.”

Sheika Panopio

“I believe what truly sets me apart from other candidates is my approach to leadership. My approach is built on active listening, inclusivity, and collaborative problem-solving. While other candidates focus on presenting themselves and their great ideas, my platforms are based on the belief that the best solutions come from the students themselves. I’m not here to just lead at the front; I’m here to create a school community where everyone thrives. And in the end every student feels empowered to succeed.”

Q3. How do you see our school throughout your term, and how will your leadership have contributed to this?

Raphael Frio

“My vision for FEPS during my term is to create a vibrant, inclusive, and ever-evolving community, an environment in which every student feels genuinely valued, actively heard, and fully empowered no matter what their gender, their grade, or their section is. They won’t feel discouraged to reach their highest potential, to step up and take initiative, and to develop into student leaders in the future of FEPS. I am fully dedicated to putting in the time and effort and heart needed to make this all a reality. I’m committed to showing up consistently, not just as a leader, but as a peer who listens and learns and grows alongside our community. […] I will make sure to lead with purpose, empathy, and drive. And together, I believe we will build FEPS where every student can see themselves reflected, supported, and celebrated. Thank you.”

Jomuel Untalan

“During my term, I imagine our school becoming a place we’re all proud of, a place where student voices are not just heard but are the very force that shapes our community. It will be a school that succeeds because of the collaboration between our teachers and us, the students who built this community together.”

Brianna Tito

“Throughout my term, I see our school as an eventful and enthusiastic academically excellent institution with events that uplift and accentuate the unique talents of all individuals. My leadership will have contributed to this due to my cheerful personality and desire to truly bring to light everyone’s capabilities with the creative plans that I have in mind.”

Sheika Panopio

“My vision for our school throughout my term is straightforward. I want to cultivate a community where every student genuinely thrives, is heard, and feels seen for their unique contributions. My leadership will be the instrument in achieving this vision. By creating initiatives and workshops that foster growth and promote the abundant diverse talents this school has. For example, the Robo-Mentor program, which is closest to my heart, unlocks new passion and talents for people who are interested in robots. I envision a school where students don’t only take classes but actively engage in shaping their environment and discovering their potential.”

Now that each candidate has presented their unique set of skills and goals, it is up to the students to listen, consider, and select the person they feel has the most potential to guide the school. Regardless of the result, one thing is certain: our student body has a bright, enthusiastic, and promising future.
