Far Eastern Private School officially launched tryouts season for aspiring athletes at the main ground this last Sept. 22 to Oct. 11.

Rallying the Youth: Volleyball Tryouts

With the net set and gear prepped, students prepare as the volleyball tryouts have begun, attracting all experienced & novice players to the court.

The trials began by pairing students into teams of former varsity players against newly recruited athletes. Proceeding matches consisted of players taking on different positions and testing their skills in volleyball (receiving, passing, setting, etc.).

Many players displayed their strengths through the duration of the tryouts, exhibiting control of the ball and communication with others. The athletes, comprised of high schoolers (Grades 7-10), were well received.

Overseen by Volleyball Coach Ronald Cabanada and their respective team captains, the tryouts were instigated on Sept. 29 for the Boy’s Block and Oct. 6 and 11 for the Girl’s Block, consisting of two tryouts. 

Order on the Court: Basketball Tryouts

“Order up!” 

It’s the dawn of a new era for FEPS basketball players as new and returning students showcase their skills in this year’s tryouts.

Students gathered in the mainground early morning to enlist in the long-awaited basketball tryouts. They began by stretching and walking around the court to warm up. Matches started shortly after that.

Lower grades (Grade 7-8) were the first to participate, demonstrating that sports’ future is in capable hands. Following that, older students (Grade 9-10) were given the opportunity to play, conquering the court with their experience and skills.

These tryouts were coordinated by Baskeball Coaches Adrianne Montillina and Ezekiel Managuelod on October 10 for both Girls and Boys Block.

Racket in the Bracket: Badminton Tryouts

Shuttles up and rackets steady, as students are getting ready because the badminton tryouts have been made official, making way for new athletes to shine.

After pinning the students against varsity players in brackets, matches shortly began. During the elimination rounds, students exhibited great dexterity & respect for the sport, as they rallied against experienced players.

Later in the day, they paired students together to test their communication skills as well as their ability to manipulate and exploit opportunities.

The tryouts soon came to a close as they finalized the list of acceptenees. Conducted by students Mhariam Ashlee Abouelyazid and Alek Sendon on September 22 (Girls Block) and September 29 (Boys Block).
