Far Eastern Private School (Al Shahba) celebrated a 3-day Octo-Language Festival with the theme, “Celebrating the Rich Kaleidoscope of Languages to Advocate Inclusivity in Adversity”, with its Opening Program on October 25, 2022.
The program began with the Parade of Book Characters, in which students across KG1 to Grade 10 participated actively. Students took inspiration from well-known Filipino book characters — Ibong Adarna for Grade 7, Florante at Laura for Grade 8, Noli Me Tangere for Grade 9, and El Filibusterismo, among many others, for Grade 10.
Moreover, there was a Spoken Word Poetry Contest with the theme, “Pagmamahal sa Guro,” championed by Jessamyn Guinanao of Grade 10C. Another notable activity was the TugSayAwit (Tugtog-Sayaw-Awit) for the High school department, with the winning class also coming from Grade 10C.
Several intermission numbers were performed by selected students from all grade levels. These include Filipino Storytelling from Grades 1-2, Filipino Dance from Grades 3-4, a Declamation Piece by Martha Carlos of Grade 5C, Reader’s Theater from Grades 5-6, Speech Choir from Grades 7-10, Sabayang Pag-awit from Grades 9-10, Arabic Presentation by Grades 7-10, and Interpretive Dance from Grades 7-8.
