In the heart of every school election season, the Miting de Avance stands as the grand spectacle that determines the future leaders of the Student Government. Beyond the spirited speeches and impassioned promises, a world of intricate preparations and hidden talents come together to create this unforgettable event. In this exclusive behind-the-scenes feature, Rhiane Claire Aguila, Treasurer Candidate of the FEARLESS Party, Jenray Nicole Ruiz, (Girls Block) Vice-President Candidate of the S.P.A.D.E.S. Party join me in unveiling the magic that transforms a school stage into the arena of student democracy.

Intermission Numbers: The Rhythm of Unity

One of the elements that make Miting de Avance memorable is the intermission performances that punctuate the speeches. These moments of entertainment are not merely spontaneous; they are the result of meticulous planning and dedicated practices.

Q: Could you walk us through the process of planning and practicing the intermission numbers for the event?

Since our main focus for the intermission number was the skit/concert, we grouped the party into multiple sections to finish quicker. We had the musicians, the dancers, and the actors. It went smoothly, thanks to everyone’s cooperation.

Rhiane Claire Aguila, Treasurer Candidate of the FEARLESS Party.

The process of planning and practicing our intermission numbers for the event were much more hectic than I expected, although, I’m really grateful that we had cooperative members and they were able to lend a helping hand with organizing the choreography.

Creating the Perfect Platforms: Behind the Scenes

Behind every compelling campaign lies impeccably designed platforms. Whether they are academically centered like clubs and tutoring sessions or extracurricular and more fun like book fairs and sports events, creating the right atmosphere for the candidates to present their vision requires meticulous planning and innovation.

Q: Can you explain what factors you and your party considered in preparing your platforms?

Our focus was on the students’ enjoyment and their well-being. Of course, we tried to include as many refreshing ideas that would catch the attention of the students. With that being said, we just aimed to stand out in general.

Rhiane Claire Aguila, Treasurer Candidate of the FEARLESS Party.

The factors that we considered in preparing our platforms are the students’ needs, an activity that can have a significant impact on the school’s esteemed students and faculty, and is within the school’s reach.

Jenray Nicole Ruiz, (Girls Block) Vice-President Candidate of the S.P.A.D.E.S. Party.

Speech Preparation: Crafting the Voice of Leadership

The heart of Miting de Avance is the speeches delivered by the candidates. Behind those powerful words lie hours of research, writing, and practice. Crafting a compelling speech requires not only eloquence but also a deep understanding of the school’s needs and the candidate’s vision.

Q: What is something unique you did in preparing your speech for Miting de Avance?

I don’t think I did anything too unique, just your regular brainstorming. My heartfelt message went out to those quiet students that I promised I would give opportunities to shine.

Rhiane Claire Aguila, Treasurer Candidate of the FEARLESS Party.

Something unique I did in preparing my speech for the Miting De Avance is using key points for my speech. Before I composed my speech, I listed down the main key points and wrote down at least 1-2 ideas for the main course.

Jenray Nicole Ruiz, (Girls Block) Vice-President Candidate of the S.P.A.D.E.S. Party.

Q: How were you able to calm your nerves in speaking in front of the students?

Strangely enough, I wasn’t all that nervous in the first place. Probably because my party mates gave each other unconditional support and encouragement, which helped boost our confidence. For that, I’m eternally grateful to them.

Rhiane Claire Aguila, Treasurer Candidate of the FEARLESS Party.

I was able to calm down my nerves by thinking less negatively and more positively. With the use of the students’ support, I was able to verbalize my speech without stuttering.

Jenray Nicole Ruiz, (Girls Block) Vice-President Candidate of the S.P.A.D.E.S. Party.

Although the Miting de Avance has concluded, the dedication and hard work of the candidates behind the scenes made it all possible.
