Amidst the cheering crowd, volleyball athletes paved their way through the FEPS main ground; uplifting every student with their on-point serves and spikes during the 3-day Intramurals, on November 28, 29, and 30, 2023.
As the highly anticipated game was about to start, FEPSians gathered in the main ground to gaze and cheer their team’s volleyball players, making the atmosphere exhilarating for everyone. Both elementary and high school department showed their exceptional talents in passing, serving, and spiking their way through the championship.
Volleyball Boys Elementary
In the elementary department, Purple Hermes went against Aurelian Spartans in the losers bracket while Red Ares opposed Green Achilles in the championship match.
Yellow Athenas brought down Purple Hermes with ease in the first set, 10-3, as the games continued, the crowd was left in awe as Purple Hermes made their comeback against Yellow Athena in the second set easily, 10-4, in the decisive match, Purple Hermes took down Yellow Athena in a close call match, 10-8, ensuring Purple Hermes to ranked third place while Yellow Athena in last.
During the championship match, Red Ares lost the first set 10-8 due to Green Achilles’ outstanding play. However, as the second set progressed, Red Ares’ powerful defense and well-coordinated play stole the spotlight, enabling an easy 10-5 comeback. Red Ares emerged victorious in the decisive match, defeating Green Achilles in a close match 10-8. This made them the elementary department champions, ahead of Green Achilles in second place, Purple Hermes in third, and Yellow Athena in fourth.
Volleyball Boys High School
In the high school department, Red Ares went against Green Achilles in the loser’s match on the other hand Yellow Athena opposed Purple Hermes in the championship match.
To begin the day, Red Ares swiftly erased Green Achilles’ name off the scoreboard with a back-to-back victory (12-10, 10-6), proving their strength and might in an early match and guaranteeing their spot in second place while Green Achilles as last.
As the championship begins, Purple Hermes attacks the Yellow Athenas with a string of powerful spikes, breaking through their defense and defeating them 12–11. As the second set raged on, Yellow Athena quickly defeated Purple Hermes thanks to Rec Echevarria’s consistent service ace and quick thinking, 15-7. In the decisive match, Yellow Athena bags down the game thanks to Allen Bayog’s consecutive service ace and strong teamwork against Purple Hermes, 10-3, securing the title “champions” for the high school department. Followed by Purple Hermes for second, Red Ares for third, and Green Achilles for fourth.
The team’s MVP, Echevarria, said in an interview that he enjoyed participating and gave some advice for the incoming players for the following season. “It was really fun, and I learned a lot of things especially when playing for my team the Yellow Athenas, to the upcoming players always listen to your coach and train hard so you can learn something every day.”
