Shahba, February 2, 2023 – Far Eastern Private School successfully conducted a fire drill earlier this morning, with the participation of all students from Kindergarten to Grade 10, along with the faculty and staff. The drill was headed by Safety Officer Ronald Cabanada, with the support of the FEPS Marshals.
“Fire drills are crucial in ensuring the safety of our students and staff,” said Ms. Mary Jane Onato, Principal of FEPS Shahba. “By regularly practicing evacuation procedures, we are able to identify areas for improvement and make sure that everyone is prepared in the event of an emergency.”
The purpose of the fire drill was to educate the students and staff on proper evacuation procedures in the event of a fire or similar emergency. During the drill, students and staff quickly but calmly exited the rooms and offices, adopting a duck, cover and hold position as they gathered at the assembly points located outside the campus grounds. The drill was completed in less than 10 minutes, and received positive feedback from school officials.
“We created the plan regarding this fire drill and the next drills since the first quarter,” said Joms Cania, OIC Commandant FEPS Marshal. Cabanda, the Safety Officer, also stated, “This was my first time conducting a fire drill as the Safety Officer. I can say it was executed well but still needs improvement. I’m pretty sure we can still improve this on our next drills.”
The successful completion of the fire drill emphasizes the importance of regular drills to ensure the safety of students and staff. The drill serves as a reminder that the school is prepared to handle emergencies, and that the flow, assembly points, positions, and readiness of the students and staff are the most critical elements in such scenarios.
Far Eastern Private School in Shahba continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of its students and staff through regular fire drills, ensuring that they are prepared for any emergencies that may occur in the future.
